Mickiewicz Family Museum-Estate in Zavosse

It is a well-known place in the country and far beyond its borders, because one of the greatest geniuses of mankind, Adam Mickiewicz, was born here, was happy here, and left his heart here.

The first documentary memories of Zaosye come from 1775, when a nobleman of the Rimvidov family, Josef Mickiewicz (the brother of Adam's grandfather) from Novogrudok county, filed a lawsuit in the Novogrudok court against a nobleman of the same county, M. Yanovich, the owner of the Zaosje estate, about the recovery of a loan from Yanovich in the amount of more than 700 zlotys. The case was considered in court several times, and as a result, Yanovich, who could not pay the debt, according to the court decision had to give the estate to Zaosya Mickiewicz as collateral. However, the Mickiewicz brothers began to live here as much as 3 years after the trial, forcibly taking what belonged to them by right.

On September 8, 1998, the museum was opened, which is a noble courtyard of the second half of the XVIII century. Wooden buildings covered with reeds, in the center of a one-story house with a porch, opposite its svironok (lyamus), then obora, threshing floor, bath near the rate, well, etc. Near the house there are flower beds, trees, ornamental bushes. The estate itself is located in a lowland on both sides of the fields, only on one side rises a huge mountain, which Mickiewicz mentions in the poems. There are also small groves of pine and deciduous trees. The estate willingly opens its doors to guests. The exhibition is based on the poem "Pan Tadeusz".

The museum staff makes a lot of effort to fill the house with original things and objects of that era, so that every visitor has the opportunity to feel the atmosphere of the house of those ancient times, stop, slow down their run through life, take the opportunity to experience great impressions of the former true story through a short visit.
